Become a Southern Rep Donor

Our commitment to producing new plays staged in an intimate setting means that ticket sales cover only a small part of our costs. As a non-profit theatre, we rely on donations from individuals like you to help us sustain our artistic mission.

Donors may choose to designate support toward a specific production, the Southern New Plays Festival, the City Series or the SRT Free Student Matinee Program. Contributions may be monetary and/or in-kind product donations, and are tax-deductible depending on the amount of benefits received in exchange for support.

Programs supported with your gift include:

Season of Premieres
Each season, Southern Rep introduces New Orleans audiences to new plays by contemporary American playwrights. Recent past seasons have seen premieres by Edward Albee, David Sedaris, Christopher Durang, Rebecca Gilman, Dael Orlandersmith, and Lynn Nottage; and Louisiana playwrights Anne Galjour, John Biguenet, Jim Fitzmorris and Barret O’Brien.

Southern New Plays Festival
During this annual Festival, we shift our attention home as we produce one world premiere and eight to ten staged readings of new plays by Southern playwrights.

City Series
During our City Series, we rent our theater to other local theater companies so that they can produce their own shows. Donations to the City Series allows us to lower the amount we charge local companies for rent.

SRT Free Student Matinee Program
Southern Rep offers high school students in the greater New Orleans area to see our productions for free at weekly Wednesday matinees. We work with teachers by sending them copies of the script and study guides in advance of the production. After the show, students have the chance to meet and ask questions of the cast and artistic staff.
